There’s something about an ice-cold smoothie on a warm summer night… Actually, there’s something about an ice-cold smoothie any day of the week and time of the year. Smoothies are just yum; plain and simple.
I love a good Smoothie King Angel Food, or one of those Red Bull smoothies from Keva Juice every now and again; but nothing beats a smoothie made in the comfort of your own kitchen. You can add whatever the hell you want, and you know EXACTLY what’s going in it. (Smoothie places are sneaky; always ask about the ingredients if you aren’t sure about something!)
I put together a smoothie earlier this week that was so good I just had to share. It’s a clusterf*** of ingredients, but bare with me; you’ll dig it. I promise.
My severe OCD nature prohibits me from letting fruit spoil. It either gets made into a dessert, or it gets thrown into a smoothie. So, this particular smoothie is just a combination of ingredients I needed to get rid of; and it just happened to taste really good.
Granted, I’m like 99% positive anything with peanut butter in it is going to taste good anyway; but for a smoothie made at home, this is a definite winner. Plus, it’s good for you!
Ingredients:
– 1 cup whole, frozen strawberries
– 1 cup fresh blueberries
– 1 whole banana
– 2 tablespoons extra crunchy peanut butter
– splash of milk (nonfat, if you have it)
Instructions:
Add all ingredients to blender, and then blend until you reach your desired consistency. You might need to add more milk if you like your smoothies thin.
**Note: No ice needed. The frozen strawberries give it the perfect icy, creamy texture.
Anything you’d add to make this smoothie better? Do you have a smoothie recipe you’d like to share with me? Send it my way! I’d love to try it, and then share it on the blog.
Stay fit, friends! Xo
