Raise your hand if you think new year resolutions are complete bs…
Me too, sister. Precisely why I don’t blog about them. And why, last year, I made goals. Not resolutions. I’m just not too keen on believing there’s only one time a year when you can/should totally reinvent yourself. You should feel like you have the freedom (and power) to change whenever the heck you want to.
Don’t let a little date, like January 1, dictate your life. Be the best version of yourself year-round!
So, what is the best version of yourself? A self with more confidence? A self with less stress? A self in better shape?
I honestly had absolutely no intention to even touch on this subject in 2016. But then my friend, Becca, happened.

I’ve known Becca since the summer before my junior year of college. She transferred to Tech, from OSU, and affiliated with our TTU chapter. At the time, I was VP Membership and up to my ears in recruitment details.
She was the new girl.
I’ll never forget the new girl sitting at the back of the chapter room watching us all rehearse our skits and dances. Over and over and over and over.
The new girl was quiet, and kind, and humble. And it only took her about 4.5 seconds to completely steal the hearts of our chapter.
With the voice of an angel (and the ability to make us all cry like babies at every pref party), this new girl was nothing short of a motivating force.
Fast forward a few years, add a successful PR (and teaching) career, 39857385761259876 friends who love and adore her, a handsome, loving husband, and an outstanding lifestyle blog (herstoryblog.com), she’s still that same motivating force.
And little did I know, seven years ago, that new girl would be a pretty big part of MY story.

Becca and I are attending a blogging conference together this weekend. And to kick off this big week in both of our blogging careers, we decided to do a little motivational giveaway for our readers.
{Becca is sharing some insight on how she plans to get more organized on herstoryblog.com + she’s giving away a $50 gift card, so don’t miss those details!}
When she asked what goal I wanted to blog about, the first thing that came to my mind was basic.
I’ll just talk about making healthier choices; and I’ll give away a $50 gift card to Whole Foods. Easy!
And while yes, I’m still giving away a $50 gift card to Whole Foods (you can find the details on Instagram), my goal is a little more than just making healthier choices.
I want to make an effort to branch out more. Get out of my comfort zone. Get inspired by unfamiliar situations and complete strangers.
I want to meet more women who are paving their own way in this world. I want more friends with fiery passions. I want to be fearless. And I want to inspire others to do the same.
I want to be someone’s motivating force.
So thank you, Becca, for continuing to be the motivating friend you’ve always been. Here’s to being fearless and following dreams! 🙂
