The “Finer Things” in Life (Quarantine Edition)

After a month and a half in quarantine, the “finer things” in life are now a distant memory. My “finer things” have now become the most simple, basic things my pre-Corona self took for granted. I never thought getting out in the sun would be a luxury, but here we are.

This week in quarantine: FaceTime and Zoom calls with friends and family, date nights on the couch, experimenting in the kitchen, “teaching” Soul classes to a mirror in my living room, doing arm workouts with cans of soup, rediscovering my love for barre workouts, and learning more about the government than I ever did in school.

Quarantine has been an emotional rollercoaster; and so far I’ve managed to stay sane. But with parts of the country re-emerging from their leirs, I have a feeling the rollercoaster is about to throw itself into high gear — America Post-COVID.

Buckle up, wash your hands, and say your prayers.

With all that said, below are some things that have helped keep me sane during quarantine. My “finer things,” if you will…

Femiro Waxing Kit – After hours of reading reviews on all sorts of waxing kits, this one was the best, most affordable option. It’s hard wax, with no strips. And it’s perfect for beginners (ie, me). Email me if you want details; I’ll spare the rest of you.

Hanacure All-In-One Facial Starter Set – After going down an Instagram rabbit hole of Hanacure celebrity selfies, curiosity got the best of me. And I’m so glad it did. I’m obsessed now. It’s like one of those really good vacation facials. But at home. Try it, you’ll love it. Trust me.

Stages Indoor Bike – The indoor bike options are endless. And if I had my choice, I’d have the new Soul at-home bike. But since those weren’t expected to ship out until the end of May, I settled for the next best thing. The Stages bike is designed almost exactly like a SoulCycle bike, so it was perfect (and necessary) for me. If you’re looking for something a little cheaper, I’ll link some great options at the bottom of this post.

Cosori Air Fryer – I cannot live without this thing. This particular model is the perfect size. It’s sleek, easy to use, and the basket is an efficient size. (Some baskets are so small you have to “fry” your food in like 10 different batches). If you’ve been waiting to pull the trigger on an air fryer, go ahead and pull it. Thank me later.

Lemi Shine Natural Dishwasher Detergent Pods – I can thank my mama for this one. When she was taking care of me post-heart surgery, she introduced me to these. And they have been a Godsend through all of this. I feel like I’ve used my dishwasher more in the past month than I ever have in my life. (I’m weird about my dishes; I usually just hand wash them because I don’t trust the dishwasher. LOL I know…I warned you I was weird.)

Colossal Foot File – Before COVID, pedicures were a way I showed my hard-working body some extra TLC. I’ve given myself lots of pedicures over the years, but there’s just nothing like a salon pedicure…until this bad boy. My feet have never been softer!

And last, but certainly not least….

Lemon Oreos – Y’all. Addicted. I almost left these off the post, but the goodness has to be shared. These and Reese’s have been my guilty pleasures the past few weeks. Zero shame.I hope you all are staying safe and sane through all of this. What are some things that have helped keep you sane? Fill me in!

Hang in there, and breathe. And wash your hands. 😉 Xo
