I Haven’t a Thing To Wear To The Inn

Merry Christmas Eve, friends! Can you believe it’s finally here? Is everyone prepared? Grocery shopping done, gifts wrapped, and Christmas Eve outfit picked out?

You think that’s what Mary and Joseph had in mind when they were looking for a place to have baby Jesus?

“Joseph, I haven’t a thing to wear to the inn; we don’t have groceries for Christmas Eve dinner, and our gifts for the wise men aren’t wrapped yet!”

Yea, no…

Despite the fact these two people were about to take part in the most significant event in the history of ever, they did not give mind to what they wore. They didn’t think about gifts or groceries. They were the stars of the show; humble, grateful, selfless stars. They paid no mind to insignificant details. The woman had a baby in a stable for Pete’s sake. Not just any baby; she had JESUS. in a stable.

I know we are all well aware of the “reason for the season.” But do we really, truly understand the significance of Christmas? Perhaps you do, and maybe you don’t. No matter what you believe, all of us can learn a little something from Mary, Joseph and the wise men.

The grandiosity of your Christmas Eve meal doesn’t matter. I guarantee they were not serving Prime Rib and Cabernet Sauvignon in the stable. It doesn’t matter how your gifts are wrapped. The wise men brought gold, frankincense and myrrh. Unwrapped and NOT from Neiman’s. Your outfit for Christmas Eve service doesn’t matter. Mary was not not sporting her Louboutins in Bethlehem; and Joseph was certainly not draped in designer duds.

Christmas is not about impressing anyone. It’s a time to be grateful. It’s a time to celebrate your health, your family, and the abundance of love in your life.

Speaking of health, the 25 Days of Fitness Challenge ends TOMORROW! Tonight is a repeat of December 21st; and tomorrow is a repeat of December 20th.
