Trust The Plan

September 11 – A day every American will always remember. #NeverForget #AlwaysRemember…we get it right? Everyone, and their dog, and their mom will be posting about 9/11 today.

I usually stay FAR away from social media on days like this: where everyone has something to say on Facebook regarding a certain topic. But today is different. Today, I’m all about it. Because today, we’re all together. No political debate bullshit. Just proud Americans remembering a day we will #NeverForget.

As a 7th grader, the concept of terrorists attacking America was a little hard to grasp. I can honestly say I was more terrified by my teachers’ reactions than anything else. I sat in class, listened to my over-the-top Spanish teacher ramble on and on about Osama this and Al Qaeda that; and all I wanted to do was go home and ask my parents a million questions.

Thirteen years later, and I still have a million questions. Questions that will probably never be answered — at least until I get to talk to The Big Guy.

Spring Break of 2010, I had the privilege of visiting Ground Zero. (The Freedom Tower was under construction, and so was the memorial.) Walking through those halls, and looking on to where the Twin Towers once stood, was a life-changing experience. It was an indescribable feeling of loss and victory, all wrapped up in one.

These pictures were taken over four years ago, on my old-school iPhone, so excuse the poor quality. . .

In the midst of all the craziness going on in the world, I take comfort in remembering how Americans stick together when it counts. While we may fight, bicker, and beat each other down over political differences and ridiculous conspiracies, we are fully capable of working as a team. We’ve proved it time and time again.

There’s a plan that’s bigger than all of us. So, trust the plan. Have faith in God, have faith in our military, and have faith in our country. Because let’s face it…we’re pretty badass, y’all.
