I walked out on my back porch this morning and couldn’t help but eavesdrop on the excitement next door.

A nervous mom, two hyper dogs, and two really annoyed little boys were outside trying to get the perfect first-day-of school picture. A picture that would be up on Facebook for the rest of their family and friends to see. (Remember the days when you had to wait until your mom developed the roll to see how cool you looked on the first day? Yea…the good ol’ days.)

While the kids next door were preparing for their first day back at elementary school, Little Sister was inside getting ready for her second day of rush week. I took one look at her, and the memories of being so tired you can’t even remember your own name, came rushing back. Suddenly, being a “young adult” didn’t seem so bad after all…

And then I’m quickly brought down back to earth.

When asked about my weekend, reality really set in…

No, I was not buying last-minute school supplies fo my chitlens. No, I was not practicing door chants for rush. No, I was not on a fabulous weekend getaway. And no, I didn’t even party too hard.

The highlight of my weekend was nailing a new cookie recipe.

Like, really. That’s my response. And I can’t decide whether that makes me the lamest 25-year-old on the planet, or the coolest personal trainer to ever exist.

But honestly though, the cookies were unreal.

The Boyfriend was a happy man. And I ate so many I made myself sick last night. #winning

Thanks to Snapchat and Instagram, I know I’m not the only mid-twenties female struggling to act like an adult. I see glasses of wine next to a big bowl of Goldfish, and my inner child lets out a big sigh of relief. Like, thank GOD I’m not the only one.

I see those articles being posted to Facebook… “20 Things You Should Have Accomplished By The Time You’re 25”, and it makes me want to vom. What is it with people and their need to make you feel like shit about yourself? I’m over it.

I’m 25, not married, I live with my younger (cooler) sibling, I work from home, I started my own business, I have a degree, I’m smart, I’m funny, I have a cat, and I’m awesome. I work my ass off like every other college grad out there, and I’m damn proud of everything I’ve accomplished. And you should be proud of yourself, too!

So here’s to being proud of where you are in life, knowing nobody’s perfect, making it through Monday, and getting to Friday! 😉

Stay fit, sweet friends. Xo

Love, Mattie Claire
